‘Remasters & Retro’: Our Picks of the Best Game Deals in the Latest UK PSN Sale

Another week and another sale on the UK PlayStation store has landed, this time returning to a sale theme that usually provides some great chances to revisit some classics with the ‘Remasters & Retro Sale’. These sales are always lot more fun to look through when compared to the more generic, ‘Games Under £16’, with a core theme allowing you to know exactly what you are in for before you begin prowling the storefront.

However, to save you the trouble of racking your brain on what game to put your hard-earned cash on, we here at JumpCut Play have selected 5 titles from the sale that we think will be a solid choice regardless for what game you go for.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy – Was £34.99, Now £13.99

Coming of no surprise to listeners of the last PlayCast episode, my first pick from the sale is the re-make of the classic PS1 trilogy of platformers, Spyro The Dragon. The Reignited Trilogy is practically a win-win for anyone who plays it, with fans of the original trilogy being treated to a glorious re-imagining of three iconic titles being re-constructed from the ground up, whereas new players will simply reap all the benefits of these three titles looking and playing better than ever, making for a great first time with the purple Dragon. It remains to be seen if Spyro will be awarded the same coveted 4th entry as we saw with Crash last year, but for now, the Reignited Trilogy is not one to miss.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled  – Was £34.99, Now £13.99

Sticking with that theme of PS1 classics, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled in many ways was an even better re-make than the already brilliant N.Sane Trilogy, with their finally being some decent competition to take on the king of kart racers Mario Kart. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is the entire campaign re-made along with the wonderful addition of online multiplayer, allowing you to hone your skills against the whole world. While the online mode has been somewhat stained with micro-transactions, thankfully, they are merely cosmetics and do not detract from the absolute blast that Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is in every aspect. Just be sure to be ready one hell of a challenge if you are after those Platinum Relics.

Borderlands: Legendary Collection – Was £39.99, Now £15.99

Perhaps the absolute best bang for your buck in the entire sale, Borderlands: Legendary Collection contains a whopping three Borderlands titles, with all the DLC included to boot. The amount of content in this package is eye-watering, with potentially hundreds of hours being up for grabs if you find yourself hooked on the wild RPG-FPS mechanics that made the franchise so popular. Alternatively, if you picked up Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel back when it was a PSPlus game a while back, the re-master of the first game can be picked up separately for £8.24, which even in itself is worthy of being a separate entry here.

Resident Evil: Racoon City Edition – Was £64.99, Now £25.99

Confusing name aside, Resident Evil: Racoon City Edition is a collection of both remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 bundled into one package. Resident Evil 2 is simply put, incredible. It can be horrifying at times while never letting its foot off the pedal, resulting in one of the most expertly paced horror games ever made. With tons of replay value via collectables, extra modes and some incredibly fun to obtain trophies, the price here is enough to justify Resi 2 by itself, and even with the mixed reception that Resi 3 received, having it bundled in with one of the best games of the last few years certainly warrants those extra few pounds to acquire both titles.

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition – Was £15.99, Now £2.39

Another title that many may already own due to the sheer number of times it had ended up on sale, it cannot be understated how much of a deal this is. For just £2.39 you are nabbing yourself a title that brought back one of gaming’s best protagonists gloriously into the latest gen of consoles, spawning a trilogy that is just as solid as the outings from Nathan Drake. Sure, in many ways the game is inferior to the better sequels that have been free on PSPlus recently but having this title to complete the trilogy is practically impossible to not snatch up.

There are plenty of other titles on sale this week so if none of these were of interest to you, then be sure to check out the sale as a whole and find yourself a good trip down memory lane!
