The highly anticipated new game from the developers FromSoftware & Bandai Namco, Elden Ring, has finally had gameplay shown at this year’s Summer Game’s Fest with a release date of January 21, 2021. Elden Ring is being directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki with a collaboration on world-building by famous author George R. R. Martin who is known for the worldwide best-seller, A Song of Fire and Ice.
Elden Ring was first shown at E3 2019 and grew to have a culture of elusiveness around it due to nothing being shown until now. One new addition to the classic Souls-like gameplay is the ability to ride horses in Elden Ring. The new trailer shows off horse-riding traversal and combat, possibly even during boss fights.
Elden Ring is returning to the fantasy genre and setting that the developers became known for with Dark Souls, after FromSoftware released Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a samurai-like game with a Feudal Japanese setting.
This new trailer showed off PvE magic, playing the game cooperatively and just basic elements of combat and exploration. I’m sure the more watchful eyes have noticed some interesting lore bits that will be dissected in hour long YouTube videos.
Elden Ring is releasing on January 21, 2021, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, and PC. Cue joke about George R. R. Martin being able to return to writing The Winds of Winter.
