Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been revealed at today’s Ubisoft Forward.
In a surprise reveal, mostly because Ubisoft have had so many leaks today, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was revealed today for PS5, Xbox Series S/X, PC, Stadia, and Luna to be coming in 2022.
The trailer didn’t show off any gameplay, simply showing various locations around Pandora, featuring a wide range of creatures and machinery. The description of the trailer does state that the game will be “a first person, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft studio, in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.” What this means is uncertain for now, but with a release year of 2022, we’ll most likely see more of it before the year is up.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora isn’t the first time we’ve seen an Avatar game, the first being Avatar: The Game released in 2009. That game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, and received mixed or average reviews at the time.
The announcement of this title could point towards there being more announcements related to the Avatar world, considering the popularity of extended universes we’ve seen with the likes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the DC Extended Universe. Maybe at some point we’ll finally get to see the supposedly in production sequels, but for now Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will have to tie us over.
