2017 saw the release of the PC visual novel game Doki Doki Literature Club. Developed by Dan Salvato, it was an adorable visual novel set in a high school that slowly turned into a nightmare. And, while it was disturbing and uncomfortable, it was also a unique and unforgettable experience.
And it seems that the club is back for another meeting of poetry and fun because the trailer for Doki Doki Literature Club Plus is here! The trailer promises more side stories that expand upon each character (Yuri, Natsuki, Sayori and Monika), making the player connect with them better. Furthermore, the game has been fully remastered in HD and players can collect over 100 images based on the game.
Doki Doki Literature Club Plus will be coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One on June 30th this year. Not only is the release date a few weeks away, so be prepared to be traumatized once again very soon, but it’ll be interesting to see how some of the games staple mechanics will work on consoles.
Doki Doki Literature Club Plus also comes with some pre-order bonuses including a download code for the full soundtrack, a sticker sheet, four 2-inch character standees, a special poem written by Monika and your very own membership card for the club to truly show your commitment! The physical copies will also have an optional notebook cover sheet to make you truly fit in with the club.
I’ve known about the extended edition of the game for a while, ever since Dan Salvato released a teaser in 2020, but to finally have a trailer is fantastic to see. I’m very excited, and curious, to see what is in store for players this time. I’m sure Monika will be very pleased to see you once again!
